Gear review: Bluetooth water bottle

Since getting pregnant I have definitely been a lot thirstier than usual. And I hear this continues through breastfeeding.

The only problem is, like most people, I never remember to drink enough. It’s just easy to push to the side and forget about when you’re doing something else.

My friend got me this amazing water bottle for my baby shower. I will admit, I was a bit skeptical about a bluetooth water bottle. It seemed like overkill! But once I started using it, I fell in love!

You install a watch battery in the cap then download an app for your phone. The directions that come with the bottle explain the process really well. After that you calibrate the sensor, and you’re ready to go!

The app shows you a line of how much water you should have drunk so far to stay on track for the day. If you have a cup of tea or some lemonade at lunch, you can manually add that to the app so that it includes all your fluids. There is even a glowing light in the bottle if you want a reminder when you’re behind on water. I personally turned this off since I use it at work and didn’t want a glowing bottle on my desk.

I didn’t think the bottle would change my drinking habits at all since I normally carry a water bottle with me anyway. But the app turns drinking water into a game! I found myself taking sips here and there just to make sure I stayed “topped off”. I also became more aware of how much liquid is in a drink that you order at a restaurant. It made me more likely to order something healthy and actually finish it.

The bottle is bigger than it looks, which is great if you’re like me and get too lazy to refill it. It’s 500mL, or half a Nalgene. The material is a soft plastic that feels nice in your hand while still being strong. And the divets provide an ergonomic fit that doesn’t slip out of my tiny hands. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design!

I definitely plan to keep using this through the rest of my pregnancy. And it will be great at keeping me hydrated and feeling good while breastfeeding! Really happy my friend got this for me as I would not have thought of getting it myself.

Definitely recommend this bottle if you’re someone who’s too forgetful or lazy to drink as much as you should 🙂
